HYP May Business Spotlight: Loft Studio

Owner Hannah Nordhagen’s mission through Loft Studio is to empower you to explore yoga and fitness programs that you can incorporate into your everyday life. Her studio offers yoga, hot yoga, barre, and Pilates both in-person and over Zoom. Loft also hosts Downdogs and Draughts every Sunday at 11am at Ten Mile Creek Brewery. If you’re interested in trying out a new activity, check out their new HYP member benefit offering of $10 off a 10 punchcard!

We wanted to learn more about Hannah and her business, and asked her to share with us for our May Business Spotlight.

Why did you choose to start your business in Helena?

I was teaching so many classes for other businesses and organizations and realized that I may be able to make a living for myself and my two boys if I opened my own studio. It was amazing how everything fell into place once I made the decision. I have a lot of very special people to thank for that. I took the leap 6 years ago and am so glad I did!

What makes your business unique to Helena?

I love having a place that is so accepting of everyone. I credit my amazing members and teachers with creating this welcoming atmosphere. We truly have an awesome community. I also fall in love with the studio every time I walk through the doors. The view from our windows is beautiful no matter the season

What is your biggest personal reward from running your business?

Having an idea, putting it out there, and seeing how it will unfold. Sometimes it is scary or doesn't work but when it's your own, it never feels like failing. It gives me so much joy that people are excited to come to the studio. Some nights I find it hard to sleep because I can't wait to see my Loft people. I love what I do so much.

How have you adapted your business in response to the COVID-19 pandemic?

At first I offered all of our classes through Zoom over quarantine. My brother had me set up in a day and more or less operational. Now I offer a hybrid. Our in-person classes are small and if you are comfortable coming in-person we welcome you, if you choose to take classes on Zoom, we love that as well! I have also become a major clean freak.

How long have you been a Sponsoring Business to HYP?  Why?

I have supported HYP in the past and picked it up again this year. I love teaching special classes for HYP members. People are already starting to use their membership cards to receive their $10 discount from a punchcard which is very fun.

What advice would you give people who’ve recently moved to Helena?

If you used a realtor (Helena has the best) talk to them about what Helena has to offer. I may be biased but a studio or gym is a great place to meet people. I moved to Helena 15 years ago and when people know you are new to town they will include you and are so excited to get you involved.

What is your favorite trail to hike near Helena, if any?

Oh my gosh there are so many! I love the Eddye McClure trail for a quick hike, Refrigerator Canyon Trail is gorgeous, and my kiddos and I walk LeGrande every night in the summer.

What can HYP members do to help support your business during the pandemic?

If you feel comfortable, join us for a class. If you hear of someone needing a great yoga class or who wants some fun movement, free of any judgement, tell them about us. We welcome everyone and love this community so much. If you aren't comfortable coming to the studio at this time, purchasing a punchcard now and coming when you feel comfortable is a great option. The punchcards never expire.
