What is your name?
Vanna Altheide
What do you do for work and what is your slash (aka what do you do in your free time)?
I run a real estate business with Keller Williams and I love to explore the trails around Montana (with or without snowshoes, depending on the season)
How did you land in Helena?
I visited many times from my home state of WA and new that this is where I wanted to start my life and career.
What is the best piece of advice that you ever received – career-related or otherwise?
The grass is greener where you water it, and don't take everything so seriously.
When do you feel the most yourself?
I feel most myself when I am fishing on a river, and I completely lose myself in admiring the beauty of the water, the mountains, reflections, etc. I take a moment to feel my breath, feel the breeze on my skin, and connect. That's usually when I hook a fish, too :)
Where is the last place you explored and where do you want to explore next?
The last place I explored in depth was Thompson Lake in the Beartooth Absaroka Range. I highly recommend. Not too difficult of an overnight backpacking trip. We spent 3 days there, and it was completely tranquil with breathtaking views.
The next place I plan on exploring is the Necklace Lakes in the Bob Marshall. I can hardly wait!
Tell us something about yourself that we didn’t ask:
Like many others have felt, it took a lot of courage to move to a new state and start a business where I knew no one. Although I miss my family dearly, Montana feels so right. I know I made the right decision, and I am here to stay.
