December Member Spotlight: Brianne Harrington

What do you do for work and what is your slash (aka what do you do in your free time)?

I own The Painted Pot and I love running, hiking, and enjoying a glass of beer or wine downtown. I’m also a secret Pokemon GO player.

How did you land in Helena?

I was born and raised in Helena. After a number of years going to school and living life in Portland, OR, my husband and I moved back to raise our son here.

What is the best piece of advice that you ever received – career-related or otherwise?

Don’t let them live rent free in your head - ie, don’t take criticism (or just someone’s bad day) personally. Shaking off others negativity and starting every day in my studio with positive attitude has helped me stay in business for almost 13 years. And I still love it!

When do you feel the most yourself?

Either up on our trails with my dogs and my dad, or at home just hanging out with my family.

Where is the last place you explored and where do you want to explore next?

We took a trip with extended family to Todos Santos this year. Beautiful, small art town on the Baja. I think Prague is next up on the bucket list.

I’m going to be an empty-nester next year! My one and only is graduating from high school this year.
