Member Spotlight: Kathryn Comer-Tuss
What is your name?
Kathryn Comer-Tuss
What do you do for work and what is your slash (aka what do you do in your free time)?
Development Coordinator for Helena Youth Homes / Beekeeper / Expert volunteer
How did you land in Helena?
I landed a job at Student Assistance Foundation in 2012 as a graphic designer and moved from Missoula with my now husband who is a Helena/Clancy native. Helena seemed like a pretty chill place to live and I was excited about all of the outdoor recreation opportunities (AND a neighborhood Big Dipper.)
What is the best piece of advice that you ever received – career-related or otherwise?
Follow your heart but remember to take your brain with you.
When do you feel the most yourself?
Being outside or hanging out with my besties.
Where is the last place you explored and where do you want to explore next?
Red Rock Lakes Natural Wildlife Refuge near West Yellowstone was the last place I explored. There are so many places I would love to visit but Austria and Switzerland are highest on the list. I'm hoping to travel to San Francisco with the hubs this fall.
Tell us something about yourself that we didn’t ask:
I love volunteering at ExplorationWorks and help operate the observation beehive exhibit on the second floor. I'm also on the ExWorks committee that organizes the Girl's STEM Roundup at Carroll College every February. It is my very favorite volunteering gig of the whole year! (P.S. I'm a HUGE science nerd.)
