HYP Volunteer Trail Crew: Almeda Lake

  • Alameda Lake Hungry Horse, Montana (map)

Almeda Lake is a great destination for hikers wanting to explore the Great Bear Wilderness- if they can find the trail! HYP and the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation (BMWF) are teaming up to clear this overgrown trail from August 19-22, 2022.

We will depart from Helena early on Friday, August 19 and return on the evening of Monday, August 22. The hike into camp is 5.5 miles with moderate elevation gain. Work will be strenuous and primarily involves clearing brush using hand tools. No prior trail crew experience is necessary, but a can-do attitude is!

The trip costs $70 per person and includes food, transportation, tools, and group gear. BMWF has a limited lending library for personal gear. This trip is open to all, with priority given to current HYP members. Registration will be open from June 6-15, and there are only 6 spots available.

For more information check out BMWF's volunteer page or contact Maya Rao at helenayoungprofessionals@gmail.com.

This event is co-sponsored by the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation.
